Every unit leaves our line with a QR seal. Each seal is printed once and issued to exactly one product.

One seal belongs to one product, so it cannot be scanned from a dozen places at once. Check with the dealer who sold it to you before using the material.
A counterfeit can copy the bag. It cannot copy the database.
Printing, sacks and seals can all be reproduced. A seal that has to check in against First Molecule's own product database cannot, and every attempt to reuse one leaves a trace we can act on.

Before you scan
Do I need to download an app?
No. Scan to verify opens the camera inside this page, and your phone asks for permission once. If you would rather not grant it, your phone's ordinary camera app will read the seal just as well.
What does “Multiple Scans Detected” mean?
That seal has already been scanned from several locations. Because one seal is issued to one product, that normally means the code has been copied and printed onto other goods. Contact the dealer who sold it to you, or First Molecule directly, before using the material.
I bought it second-hand and it shows multiple scans.
That can be innocent. A product that has changed hands may genuinely have been checked several times. The warning tells you to confirm the origin with your seller, not that the product is definitely fake.
Why can't I scan properly from my computer?
Verifying means holding a camera against the seal on the bag, which in practice means a phone. On a desktop the button shows a code you can pick up with your phone's camera to carry this page across, though a webcam will work if you have one.
The seal is torn or the print is smudged.
The batch number is printed under the code in plain text. Send us that number and we will check the database by hand.
Does scanning identify me?
No. A scan records that a code was checked, and roughly where. That is exactly what catches a duplicated seal. It does not need or collect your identity.
